Cleaning a silver necklace?
I have a silver necklace with small opal in the center, which just bought a few weeks ago. I poured a solution contact on, was the guy who is super acidic, while I was sleeping and when I woke up my collar was badly tarnished and black. Its very dirty. How I clean without damaging the opal, but I still thoroughly cleaned and back to original shine.
Well with spilled acid solution is not known very well, as it was black. But I generally clean mine using an old toothbrush, water and baking soda. It is left looking brand new. Just wet your toothbrush with running water, submerge it in a little baking soda (put a little baking soda in a paper towel) and brush gently. Since silver is sterling feel rinse free but be sure to dry thoroughly. If necessary, use a dryer, but do not leave it wet. You can do that or go to the mall. Many people do not know this, but you can go into almost any jewelry store in the mall (big as Zales) and ask them to clean your jewelry like a ring. There has to be bought there for they do.
